“Father, how do you feel about celebrating the mass here today, in St Jude’s Chu…
Rev. Father Albet Arockiasamy, Parish Priest of the Church of St. John Marie Vianney, Tampin:
I came to celebrate this mass on this date: 22nd of October and the theme that was given to me was “Mary and the Church”. It was a beautiful reflection that helped me incorporate or include the scripture readings of the 29th Sunday, which reflects about King Cyrus, the pagan king who was able to help the Church/Temple to be built in Jerusalem and likewise a community. Likewise Mother Mary played an important role to respond to God’s call and on the Feast of the Annunciation, to become the Mother of God and later, on the feast of Pentacost she became the Mother of the Church and how she continued to be the missionary arm of the Church, to always promote the kingdom of God and the values that wherever she appears, the values that she was promoting, she has always been inviting each one of us also to be the agents of change.
I’m glad that Father Vincent gave me this theme and I’m glad that the people – those who attended the Tamil mass, were able to reflect on that manner and prepare themselves to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. I’m glad to come and celebrate this mass here with these beautiful people of my own neighbouring kampung (village). I’m from Kuala Selangor, I used to always stay here with Father Naden those days and also with all the other parish priests. I used to ride my bicycle here to come and concelebrate with them – Oh no, I was only a seminarian then.
Thank God for this experience, continue to enjoy your celebration of the feast day, and may the good Lord bless you all to be the salt of the earth and light of the world, Amen.
